[General Discussion] How do you cope with your depression ?

With covid locking most of the fun events and friends and travel opportunities away, scarcity of good paying jobs, property and rent skyrocketing ... no wonder some of us are coping with their depression. I would really like to know how CS members that feel non energetic towards most activities in their lives, try to push trough. What type of activities do you practice to break through your sadness, anger and frustration.

No wrong, taboo or perfect answers here. Speak your mind, nobody is judging.

audiobooks, plain and simple. They help me sleep, they distract the mind. Their a calming escape from a stressfull world. Im in a situation where i am in allot of pain/discomfort verry often. Being able to relax and explore new worlds is a real gift. Too me audiobooks transcend reading. They elivate the experience, to film like levels of engagement. Before... if i heard a book was good i would read it and enjoy it... but i would allways be thinking... yeah but how great would this be as a tv series or film(my prefered medium). But discovering audiobooks 3 years ago has helped me enjoy books in their own right.

I highly recomend you try the series's The Black Prisum and The Stormlight archives if you are interested in fantasy books

What happens when those things stop being fun ? @newaki GTA V at this point is old as fuck it becomes repetitive when you scrape every part of it (Rockstar need to release GTA VI asap !), FPS games now look more of copy paste to me. @ wormtail39 Movies, shows look more as products tailored with an agenda or for specific audiences to make $$$. Rarely you find gems here and there but once that end that dreadful empty depression feeling comes back. Audiobook is something i never tried though might be worth a shot ... Btw, nobody here developed a porn addiction faping away a couple of times a day then getting hit with an empty feeling after the act (WTF am i doing ? Where is my life heading ?).

If you find yourself depressed frequently or for longer periods of time, there's seriously no shame in getting some meds. I take viibryd, it doesn't affect my libido, and while I take it moreso for anxiety, it helps primarily with depression.

Also, just staying active is huge in improving your mood. I hate working out but I got a VR headset and i have the most fun burning calories playing around with that.

Yeah, this is a very difficult stage. Depression is so common it is actually becoming the norm. And the worst is, it seems to be relentless, I can't really do much about it. When I was working and paying rent and bills I felt like a slave and felt pretty depressed, like a ghost. Life had become what I always dreaded when I was young. Now I live in a totally different way, basically just traveling and, no matter if I live feeling HAPPY for months, it only takes me a moment to go back to that depressed state, it feels as if it was my natural state and I just gravitate about it, falling irremediably into it no matter how far away I go from its center.
But going back to the question, I've realised that when I'm depressed I eat a lot of chocolate and masturbate a lot more. I do not want to have sex, I reject my girlfriend because I don't feel horny and I don't feel like getting intimate with anybody, but I masturbate.
